If you're looking for a villa with pool in the Pyrénées mountains . .

Villa Tamerza is a large, chalet-style house on three levels. Completely refurnished and redecorated recently by its owners. It offers the ultimate in luxury with five bedrooms (four with super kingsize beds and one with four full-size bunk beds), three bathrooms with baths and/or showers, fully fitted kitchen with all-new appliances including fridge, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, kettle, toasters and dishwasher. There is a large dining room to seat 12+ adults, big sitting room with two four-seater sofas, armchairs, cosy open-hearth log fire, hi-fi system, Sky satellite TV, fast Wi-Fi broadband, massive garage/cellar and laundry room with new washing machine and drier.

Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, just 2 miles from the beautiful town of Bagneres de Bigorre and within easy riding distance of legendary Tour de France mountain stage climbs, including the Col du Tourmalet, Col d'Aspin, Col d'Aubisque, Col de Peyresourdes and numerous other monsters, this is any cyclist's paradise and is the ideal base for a family or club cycling holiday in the Pyrenees. The Tour de France 
Over the last few years the Tour de France has passed within 5 or 10km of the house virtually every year, with some stages either starting or finishing in Bagneres itself - just 2 minutes drive from Villa Tamerza, and in September 2003 the Vuelta came past us too! Bagneres was a stage finish in 2007 and the TDF the Etape du Tour came through the town in 2008.

The house also has its own private hard tennis court and a beautiful swimming pool which reached temperatures of 33 degrees C last summer - without heating !

All the bedrooms have either a balcony or direct access onto the garden, with beautiful views all around. The garden has about 4 acres of lawns and some wooded and wilder parts. There are lots of lovely walks close by with the river Adour about 100m from our garden.

The sitting room is large and very cosy, with a big open-hearth fireplace, comfortable sofas and arm chair, Sky satellite TV (Full Movies and Sport Package), hi-fi, DVD player. Four of the bedrooms have large, comfortable, super-kingsize, beds and beautiful views. The dining room seats 12+ around two big wooden tables.

Bagneres de Bigorre - our nearest town 
During the summer season, Bagnères is a lively spar town, steeped in history, with many good restaurants (12+), bars and shops. In the winter skiers flock to this popular resort town. Normally we have consistent snow depths of around 2m during the winter at the top of La Mongie - the best snow conditions in France - but without the crowds or the high prices. There's every type of sporting activity in and around Bagneres, including horse riding, the thermal baths, canoeing, trout fishing, walking, hiking, tennis, road cycling, climbing, mountain biking, white-water rafting, etc, as well as a really good 6000 m, 18 hole golf course with awe-inspiring mountain views. If you're feeling lucky you could also try the casino - a spectacular old building right in the middle of Bagneres.

There are some fantastic walks around Bagneres. Try the hike to Lac Bleu. You drive or ride to Chiroulet - about ten minutes drive from Villa Tamerza - then hike. Spectacular mountain views. Another good day trip is the Pyrenees National Park at Gavarnie.

The observatory at the top of the Pic du Midi is now open during winter and summer and offers spectacular views for hundreds of miles in all directions. In the observatory itself there are some fascinating exhibits and a wealth of material for astronomy buffs. It's also now possible to book an overnight stay at the Observatory on the summit of the Pic du Midi and do some serious start-gazing in one of the world's clearest night sky locations.

Villa Tamerza is only a few kilometres from the Spanish border so another possible day trip is Pamplona where they stage the famous bull running spectacle in the street each year. There are several nearby passes and tunnels which lead over into Spain. The Tunel de Bielsa sis only about 40 mins drive.

Lourdes and other places to visit
Only 20 minutes drive from Villa Tamerza is Lourdes, the world famous centre for Christian pilgrims. Lourdes is important to Christians the world over because of what happened on 11th Feb 1858, when the Virgin Mary first appeared to St Bernadette Soubirous in a cave by the Gave de Pau river. Visited each year by over 5 million people from all over the world, Lourdes gets a bit hectic during the Christian religious festivals of Easter and the Nativity - but is worth a trip just to marvel at the whole spectacle.
